It’s official, well, as official as it can be until January 20th. Barack Obama is the new President of the United States of America. I couldn’t be happier, obviously. Not only do I truly believe that he can help turn the US around, but what an amazing moment for our country. An African American has been elected President; something I didn’t think I would see in my lifetime.
I was just watching McCain’s loser speech, (sorry I don’t know a better term for it LOL) and I was put off by something. There were numerous times that the crowd booed about something- mostly when he talked about Obama- and McCain seemed upset and surprised by this. I don’t get it. He has spent the last 6 months (more really) bashing Obama and telling the US why he is so much better then him. Now that Obama won McCain just expects his supporters to forget everything he said and jump on the bandwagon?? You can’t tell people how horrible someone is one day and then tell them to come together and support that person the next? Does he really not know the crazy stuff that was being said about Obama on the internet??? It is no wonder die hard McCain supporters are mad and scared… they probably believed what they read.
I know this happens all the time, but I am just getting tired of the way these elections are handled. Doesn’t anyone have any class anymore, or respect, or privacy???
Congratulations to Obama, I know you are going to do an awesome job!! I can’t wait to hear your speech… should start any minute! Don’t let me down!

As the Big Day gets nearer I can’t help but feel nervous and start to think back to Election 2004. It was the first time I was able to vote in a Presidential election and I was beyond excited. I had something called a Xanga that I talked a lot about the election on. I talked to everyone I met about voting and I really believed that America would be smart enough to get rid of Bush. My mother, grandmother, and I even planned to leave for a trip to DC the weekend after the election. Then Tuesday comes and goes and MORE people vote for Bush then in 2000! I was crushed. What was America thinking? Kerry may not have been perfect, but I think anyone could have done better then Bush…. Probably even me, or Sarah Palin! (yikes)

It turns out; DC is the best place to be after an election gone horribly wrong. EVERYONE agrees with you! Taxi drivers, waiters, store clerks, strangers, even politicians (we met Tom Daschle and John Edwards) were all talking to us about how disappointed they were in the results. I have never wanted to move somewhere so badly in my life!!

The people, the museums, the monuments, the memorials, hell, almost every building there spoke to me. I have always loved American History, and this place is FULL of it!!!

I walked around all day, every day for almost 2 weeks just looking at things and taking stuff in. It was amazing at helping calm me after the bad news.

So, I guess what I am worried about this year is, what if Obama looses?? How will I get out of the terrible depression that will surely follow?? I have no DC trip planned this year! I don’t know if I can take it people, especially with all the stress this damn Prop 8 is causing me!! So tomorrow when you go vote, do the right thing, and think about poor little me, biting my nails in anticipation.

Vote for Obama… and California, please, No on Prop 8!

If you could do me a favor and vote HERE… that way I can see if maybe I need to start bracing myself!
And comments, you silly lurkers you! Here’s some suggestions-
Who do you want to win?
Why? you might be able to change my mind… ha
How do you get over your candidate losing?
How totally cute was I in 2004??
Tell me about your trip to DC!

This lady is a nutcase! How can you honestly justify this? In case you can’t see the video, here is a run down-
This lady in Detroit decided to use Halloween to “campaign” for McCain…. to 5 and 6 year olds. When they come up to her door she asks if they support Obama, if they say yes then she refuses to give them candy and sends them away. Happy Halloween, right? If the child doesn’t support Obama, she gives them a miniature candy and a HUGE McCain/Caribou Barbie door hanger. Like any kid could give two craps about a door hanger. Those things were probably all over the streets!
Also, what about the kids that could care less, but just said they support Obama because that is what she wanted?? What kid wouldn’t say they loved eating poop just to get some candy. But more importantly why the hell is she even involving children and Halloween in the craziness that is known as our election system. Halloween should be about costumes, candy, games, trick or treating, and just having fun…. NOT about elections or who is voting for whom! This is just hateful and mean and to be honest, I hope the bitch got egged!
endnote– I think next year I’ll ask kids if they believe in God… if they say yes, NO CANDY! Imagine what would be said about me, I’d probably be stoned, but I’m sure all you McCain supporters think this is just peachy.

So, I was just wondering what kind of response I would get about this topic. Heaven help us if America votes like morons again and actually elects some of these people! McCain is as old as dirt and Palin as green as grass! I know everyone liked to complain about Obama’s lack of experience, but COME ON!!! From PTA to Observatory Circle?? Or, even the White House, considering how ancient McCain is!
