In all of my internet wanderings I have come across really a ridiculous amount of Twitter Applications. I was going to just make a Twitter bookmark folder, but this is more fun! Some of the apps I really like and some of them are just weird….

Twitter, in case you don’t know, is a micro blogging social network. You get 140 characters to tweet your status, all day… every day. I have quite a few followers (2180 when writing this) and I follow even more people, (2211) so it does tend to keep me busy! Some people use it to tell us when they take a shower, some post interesting links, funny comments, quotes, tips, and some people use it to promote their business. First thing is first, the way I like to communicate with Twitter is–

TweetDeck for PC  The reason I like it best is because I can put people in groups and listen to them.  I have too many followers to read all of everyone’s updates, so people that I make a connection with go in the group that I pay the most attention to…. if that makes any sense.

Somethings you HAVE to do–

Power Twitter- all it does is add more features to Twitter, but really cool ones- search user’s tweets, Facebook status updates, inline media, url expansion, @mentions, link shrinking, and more!

Hashtags learn about hashtags and which ones are being tweeted, it will boost your Twitter experience!

Twitterfeed (if you have a blog) You can set it up to tweet your latest posts.

Tweeting from my browser–

TwitterBar is my favorite!! It is a Firefox add on and it puts a little green button in the address bar.  If there is a web page I want to tweet I just type a little something after the address and then hit the green button.  It keeps track of the 140 character limit too!

TwitterFox This extension adds a tiny icon on the status bar which notifies you when your friends update their tweets. Also it has a small text input field to update your tweets.

TweetBar opens up a side window, where the favorites show up, that keeps you updated on your friends status and lets you update.

Update all your social sites at once–

Ping.fm supports over 30 social networking sites.  Type once and post to all of them

HelloTxt even more stuff then Ping!

How I find friends–

Mr.Tweet is a personal assistant whose only job is to find you people to follow. He even send you a direct message when he’s found you some tweeps.

Twits Like Me all you do is enter your Twitter user name and it tells you people that might be like you…. I have NO idea how it works.

Twello is the Twitter Directory

Just Tweet It is another directory based on categories

Twubble searches your friend graph and picks out people who you may like to follow, if you have a lot of followers it might suggest some people you already have.

Follow Me, Follow You–

Twitter Karma lets you see who you follow, who follows you, and who is in both categories

Twitter Snooze ignore someones tweets if they are talking a lot… if you don’t want to unfollow them

LessFriends Do the people you follow, follow you?

TwitterLess tell you who unfollows and shows you lots of neat graphs about your twitterness

Qwitter tells you who unfollowed you and the last tweet you posted when they did… it seems like they keep track for a month then disappear for a month, then come back and keep track again, so who knows

Find the Top Twits and see where you stand–

TwitTown lets you see the top 150 tweeters by followers, following, and updates

TwitterGrader gives you a rank and  a grade (5,448 and 99.6) and tells you who is at the Tip Top and the top of each location.

Twitterholic You can see who is at the top and where you are. I am 5,481

TwitterRank See the top 50 and what you rank, I haven’t figured this one out yet, I can’t tell what they are ranking it on….

Tweet140 Keeps track of Twooshs  (Tweets that are exactly 140 characters)

Keep tabs on yourself–

TweetStats shows how often, when, an what type of tweeting you do

TwitGraph NO idea what it is telling me, but there are lots of pie charts LOL

Tweet your tunes–

TittyTunes is a FoxyTunes companion that lets you tweet the song you are playing to Twitter. Also tweets webpages and videos.

Blip.fm Now I have no idea how this one works, but I have seen a lot of people use it to post their songs to Twitter.  I assume if you sign up you’ll figure it out. LOL

Share pictures and video–

TwitPic lets you share pictures on Twitter

Twittershare lets you post just about anything to Twitter, pictures and video included.

AutoPostr and SnapTweet are both ways to share your Flickr photos on Twitter.

Search Twitter–

Twitter Search yep, that’s what it is

TweetScan another search engine for Twitter, includes locations and usernames

Twitturly lets you know the most talked about URLs

TwitScoop find out whats being tweeted about right now

Track keywords on Twitter–

TweetBeep hourly alerts on keywords and links

Monitter keep tabs on 3 different keywords

TweetVolume enter up to 5 words or phrases and see how often the appear on Twitter

Put your tweets all over–

TwitStamp makes a little box of your most recent tweet:

TwitterCounter I can’t get it to work here, but it gives you a little box with your follower count

Twitter Graphics–

Randa Clay a few free twitter graphics to upload to a website

Siah a bunch of  Twitter graphics, some animated.

Track your links or just make them tiny–

Tweetburner will shorten and track any link you enter, it also has a bookmarklet tab to make things even easier

TweetClicks is pretty much the same thing

TinyURL is a Firefox add-on that lets you shrink the URL of any webpage.

Fun Stuff–

Twitter100 shows you the last 100 updates of the tweeples you follow

TweetLater helps you schedule tweets, send automated messages, and auto-follow

TwittEarth Twittervision and Atlas show you where on Earth people are updating from.

TwitAnswers LazyTweet and ToAnswer You’ve got questions and the twitterverse has answers!

Twitter Keys all the cool picture characters you can use on Twitter

TwittieMe advertise your Twitter page for free to get more followers

There are also like a billion apps for Twitter and mobile phones, messengers, and email.  I haven’t opened that can of worms yet, I’m not trying to let Twitter completely take over my life!
